So you only transit in HKIA and then upon flight arrival you will then travel to Guangzhou by train or ferry? Then you will need a visa to Mainland China. Kindly remind that if you fly into Guangzhou from HK or India, you can enjoy the 144-hour visa free transit in Guangdong, no need for a China visa.
If you hold a visa to Mainland China, then you can enjoy free transit in HKIA and stay for 7 days in HK. For transit, don't go through the HKG immigration, just by the ferry ticket at E2 counter in transfer area and take the ferry to Guangzhou at Sky Pier and no need to collect your luggage.
