Your itinerary is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. In order to be aligned with the rules, you will buy your ferry ticket from Shekou port in Shenzhen through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Transport Company website. After you have bought it, you will print it out and have that printout with you ready to be presented to the authorities in both Taipei and in Shenzhen. In order to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit that is valid for entire Guangdong province, your stay in Shenzhen or in other areas of Guangdong should be at least a minute longer than 24 hours. Also, you should be aware that you will really have to take exactly that ferry that you have bought your ticket for. Also, it is important to use correct terminology because this is not 144 hrs free visa, but 144 visa free transit, so there is no visa of any kind at all.
