About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Zhuhai to Macau on foot

I am looking at flying from Tokyo to Shenzhen and going from Shenzhen to Zhuhai.
Can I leave from Zhuhai to Macau on foot if I got 144 hours visa free?

If you cannnot provide a flight or a ferry ticket to a third region, you will not be given a 144-hour visa-free transit.

Just to add that a confirmed ticket out of China is a must, even before you take your flight from Tokyo. If you intend to visit both Zhuhai and Shenzhen during your 144 hour visa free transit stay in Guangdong province, you are advised to visit Zhuhai first, then to travel back to Shenzhen and from there, Shekou port, take a direct ferry to Macau. The line Shekou to Macau is operated by TurboJet company, so you will buy a ticket Shekou - Macau, online through TurboJet website before your departure from Tokyo. Also, you will have to print out your ferry ticket, have it at hand and remember that you will have to take exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket for.

Thank you for your reply.
If I book the HZM bus from Zhuhai to Hong Kong instead of the ferry, will I be allowed to enter Shenzhen without visa?
This news says it is also possible to depart from Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao-Zhuhai Highway port on April 19th.

Well, based on this very recent information, it seems that this will be indeed possible. Honestly, I was not aware of those ports becoming eligible exit ways under 144 hour visa free transit policy. This is a great news and probably the greatest among them is the possibility to use a high speed train from Guangzhou and/or Shenzhen directly to Hong Kong West Kowloon train station.

However, one significant problems remains with your intention. It would be possible to take a bus from Zhuhai segment (Zhuhai port of HZM bridge, located on the northern segment of the artificial island close to both Zhuhai and Macau), but the key detail is if you can produce a ticket for that bus segment in advance. As far as you know, you have to have your entire itinerary based on confirmed tickets because it will be checked in both Taipei at the time of check-in and upon landing in Shenzhen.

To conclude, I congratulate you for this eyeopening details, but try now to find an option how to obtain a bus ticket from Zhuhai portion of HZM bridge crossing until Hong Kong in advance and if you manage to do that, it will be a huge favor to all other passengers who would definitely opt to use this exit option, without any doubt. Please, return here with that information and when we meet, you have a bear from me and from others as well :)

Ken, just one detail...

If you want, even under the rules valid before the introduction of new ports mentioned in the article you have presented, you can also take a ferry (speed boat) from Jiuzhou port in Zhuhai to Hong Kong if you wish. This is perfectly eligible port for that purpose. Of course a ticket for the ferry has to be produced online in advance through TurboJet website.

Thank you for your replies.
I booked HZM bus.
I'm leaving for Shenzhen this week, so I'll confirm if I can get a transit visa exemption at airport check-in at Tokyo-Narita and China immigration.
If not, I will book the ferry.
