Waiting list for a soft sleeper

I'm on the waiting list for a soft sleeper overnight train from Xi'an to Shanghai. How likely is it that I will still get a soft sleeper ticket or should I look for and book an alternative?

If not during the public holidays, the possibility is about 60-70%. You can set a cut off time for the waiting, for example, 24 hours before the departure. If you don't get the ticket at that time, you should turn to an alternative.
