Which type of visa?

We are planning to visit China in July to visit our son, a Canadian studying in Beijing. Should we get an L visa or an S2 visa? And since he is already in China, can an electronic picture of his passport be enough?

Both are suitable. S visa usually allows longer duration of stay than L type. You need a copy of his passport. Just print out the electronic pictures.
