About:Visa on Arrival

Visiting Shenzhen

Hello,

I'm a Hong Kong Permanent Resident, holding a Philippine Passport. Can I still apply for the 5-day VOA at the Lo Wu border? I have accommodations with my family at Shenzhen for 3 nights. We're basically touring around Shenzhen area only. Or I must apply ahead of time at the China Embassy?

Recent experience shows that the citizens of Philippines have mixed success in obtaining a Shenzhen visa on arrival, but if you have previously visited mainland China and you have old Chinese visa in one of your passports, this increases your chances to be granted a visa. Also, your residency in Hong Kong also increases your chances. However, you will not know whether you will be successful until you approach the counter at the border crossing. It is important that you know these details.
