About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does the flight need to be connecting flight?

Hi there,

I am planning to travel to Guangzhou on February 24 and return on February 28, intending to take advantage of the 144-Hour Visa Free program. My question is I booked a one-way ticket that goes US > Japan > Guangzhou. Then, I booked a separate one-way that goes back Guangzhou > South Korea > US. Will this accepted, or could there be issues since I have not booked a connecting flight?

Under the assumption that your flight itinerary does not have any additional landing within mainland China beside Guangzhou, you are perfectly eligible for 144 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Separate tickets are acceptable as well on traveling on unrelated airlines. It is your itinerary that matters.

You are advised to print out your flight tickets as well as your booking confirmation and to have these documents at hand for speedier processing. Also, when flying on 144 hour visa free transit to/from Guangzhou, you are allowed to travel, explore and stay within the entire Guangdong province.
