Part one:
ZoLee, you have mentioned that you are arriving into Shenzhen from Budapest, but we both know that there is no direct flight from Budapest to Shenzhen. This implies that you will have a landing somewhere and this is not a problem unless your landing is located within mainland China. In other words, you cannot have an itinerary:
Budapest - Beijing - Shenzhen - Hong Kong
Itinerary of this kind is not eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. However, if you change a plane in a country different than mainland China, you are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. As far as the formalities are concerned, you will do exactly in the same order as will DanielaG:
- You will have to buy a ferry ticket through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Company website that will take you from Shekou port in Shenzhen to Hong Kong even before your departure from Budapest. However, you have to be aware that you cannot take a ferry from Shekou/Shenzhen before you have stayed in Shenzhen area for at least 24 hours to become eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. In other words, your ferry departure from Shenzhen is allowed to be after you have stayed 24+ hours in Shenzhen.
- You will print out your ferry ticket and you will have it at hand, ready to present along your flight tickets that should also be in a printout form.
- You will really have to take exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket for.
- During your check-in at the airport before Shenzhen you will declare that you will travel to Hong Kong via Shenzhen using 144 hour visa free transit and you will present them flight and a ferry ticket.
