Transfer for 31 hours

I want to transfer in Shanghai by a flight of China Eastern Airlines. We need to wait for 31 hours. Do I need a Chinese visa? Do I need to pay for it?

It depends on your itinerary if eligible for the 144-hour visa-free transit.If you just transit in Shanghai to the third country without any other stops in mainland China, then there is no problem. It is totally free.
