About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Iranian passport holder, resident in Germany

I am an Iranian passport holder who has been residing in Germany since 2016. I hold a valid resident permit from Germany as well as a tourist visa for Australia. I am planning to travel to Melbourne, Australia from Frankfurt and my flight itinerary includes a layover in Guangzhou. Am I eligible to apply for a 72-hour or 144-hour transit visa?

- Departure to Melbourne, Australia: Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport 09:00 Feb. 29, 2024 (Thu)

I'm sorry but Iranian passport holders are not eligible for the 72/144-hour visa-free transit. However, you are qualified with the 24-hour visa-free transit. It is better to change a flight.

Indeed, your layover in Guangzhou is 35 minutes too long for you to be qualified for 24 hour visa free transit. I second Helen in the suggestion that you change a flight or as an alternative, to obtain a Chinese transit visa in advance.
