About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Vietnam -> Chongqing -> Vietnam

Hey would a route that is essentially return flight work or would it be void?

Also if I purchased an onward ticket so Vietnam -> China -> 'x' and redirected the ticket to vietnam after my visa was allowed would it work?

Cheers
Jake

No, this is not possible. Simply speaking, you have to have immediate points before and after your Chinese destination in two different countries or eligible territories (eligible territories: Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau). It is not possible to make redirection because the ticket(s) you will use have to be confirmed and when you land in China, you will have to follow every detail that is written in your ticket, but your ticket has to have two immediate points in two different countries/territories.

However, you can create an eligible itinerary to look like this:

HCMC - Chongqing - Hong Kong - HCMC

Like this, you would be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Chongqing area.
