About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am planning to fly to Beijing Daxin with my family (all British) in March. Then onwards to Japan.

Flying from London to Beijing Daxing Intl airport in March 2024. Then plan to go to Japan from Beijing Capital International Airport. I haven't booked my Japan ticket yet but wanted to find out if using different airports is ok for visa free visit? Also I wonder if I could stay for 72 hours or 144 hours? So I can book my onwards ticket to Japan.

It is perfectly fine to use different airports within one transit area and both Daxing and Capital belong to it. There are several other airports that are available for use, so you are fine with this segment without any doubt.

You will use 144 hour visa free transit. 72 hour was replaced years ago in favor of more generous 144 hour visa free transit and now 72 hour remains valid just for a couple of mainland Chinese areas.

Now you can book your tickets and just have in mind not to exceed your 6 days allowed visa free transit stay.
