Flying to shangai with stanby flights

Hi, I have a European passport and will be traveling from Hong Kong to PVG on a confirmed ticket and then within 48 hours flying with a standby airline ticket PVG to London LHR, is it possible to get the 144 hour visa free if my connection flight is a standby flight (due to airline staff travel) ?

As I know, China offers at most 15-day visa-free entry to travelers holding ordinary passports from France from December 1, 2023. So you don't need to worry about any Chinese visa problem.

Indeed, you as a French citizen are free from bothering about these details. All you need is your passport and you will travel to China in the same way as if you were traveling to UK. You will just fill out arrival/departure card on board the inbound plane or upon landing in Shanghai and that's it.

By the way, if you happen not to be a French citizen, you would not have been allowed to travel on a standby ticket. Since you are a French citizen, you are allowed to do that.
