You have to know that 144 hours are counted from the the beginning of the day following your arrival or in your case from April 23rd. In other words, you are allowed to stay until the very end of April 28th, so your are fine with this segment.
Another detail is your itinerary:
Australia - Shanghai - Paris
or
Australia - Shanghai - Singapore - Paris
Both of your itineraries are fine, but in the case of itinerary with Singapore, you should be careful not to have Singapore also during your arrival to China and here I mean any kind of landing! So, if there is no Singapore during your arrival in China and if you are all Australians, you will be covered by 144 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa for your planned exploration as you have presented it.
