About:China Transit Visa

Transit visa eligible?

U.S. citizen with following itinerary

USA- HKG-SHA

Spending 36 hours in Shanghai

PVG-HKG-India

The only reason for Hong Kong is I'm using cathay pacific and don't intend to leave airport/immigration/customs in Hong kong.

I'm sorry but your trip will be regarded as a return trip because of HK - Shanghai - HK. The immediate points before and after Shanghai have to be in different country or eligible territory, so your present itinerary is not eligible for the visa-free transit.
