About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can I exit during a 5 hour layover

I am a Singaporean arriving at Shanghai Pudong T1 on 17 Nov 0410 with a layover before another flight to Narita at 0910, on the same day. Can I exit the airport and rest at Da Zhong Pudong Airport Hotel during the 5 hour layover?

Singaporean citizens do not need any kind of visa to enter China and are not subjects under any visa free transit scheme. In other words, you are absolutely allowed to do exactly what you have asked, but just be careful to return on time for your flight to Japan.
