About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Chengdu

multiple destination flight

Hi!
I'm about to book a china eastern flight from Rome to Beijing (with a layover in Shanghai). I'd love to stay 2 or 3 days in Beijing before moving to Thailand/Laos with another flight. Am I elegible for the transit visa?
Plus, if the return flight leaves from, to say, Chengdu, am I still able to stop in Chengdu for a couple of days?
To clarify the situation, my flight will be
Rome - Beijing 20th of january
Chengdu - Rome 5th of february
In the middle i'll fly Beijing - Bangkok and Bangkok - Chengdu.
Hope I made it clear.

Thanks!

To simplify, your itinerary will be:

Rome - Beijing - Bangkok

and

Bangkok - Chengdu - Rome

In both cases, under the assumption that you do not have any additional landing within mainland China, your are definitely eligible for 144 visa free transit in both Beijing and Chengdu. Also, it is perfectly fine to travel multi-city or multi-destination with separate tickets and unrelated airlines. Always, but always, it is itinerary that matters. You are good to go :)
