About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I will travel to Ho Chi Minh Vietnam from Auckland NZ transiting at Beijing airport for 20 hours.

It is a very long transit 20 hours the whole day. My question is, with Vietnamese passport, is it possible to have a tour around the city? can I get out of the airport? If yes what process that I need to go through after landing?

You are eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit. In general, you can acquire a temporary entry permit at the 24-hour visa-free transit counter in the airport. However, recently, the Chinese customs becomes more strict to issue the permit. So it is hard to day if you can get one or not.

Just to add that a proof to participate in an organized and payed tour as well as a possession of accommodation booking confirmation outside the airport helps a lot when applying for a temporary entry permit. You are advised to have such confirmations in hard copy (as a printout).
