About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travel from Brisbane to Malaysia, transit in Guang Zhou Baiyun airport around 10 hours

I'm Malaysian citizen, will go back to Malaysia from Brisbane by China Eastern Airlines and transit in Guang Zhou Baiyun airport around 10 hours. Do I need transit visa for the trip? Will Malaysian eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit and layover in one of the hotel close to the airport until the next flight to Malaysia?

Hope to hear from you soon

You are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa.

As far as your exit from the airport is concerned, you will approach 24/144 hour visa free transit counter immediately after you land in Guangzhou. You will present your flight tickets and your accommodation booking confirmation, in hard copy preferably. In other words, you will apply for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to exit from the airport. This application is for free. Now, you have to know that the authorities may allow you to exit and also to prevent you from exiting airport based on their discretionary right. So, have in mind that both outcomes are possible. However, I would say that the chances that you will be granted a permit are quite high because of the length of your transit time.
