About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Indonesian Passport transiting in Fuzhou on Xiamen Air

My family will be transiting in Fuzhou for 13 hours CGK-FOC-KIX. There are too many different informations out there regarding the TWOV.

Airline Ticketing Office: Need to apply Transit Visa (G) at Visa Centre based on information on IATA TIMATIC system

Visa Centre: Depends on the Airline

Travellers from Indonesia: 24-hour transit visa TWOV issued at immigration as shown in this Youtube video and comments: There is even a form to fill out shown on the video. They also said everyone is required to go through immigration.

Online: Even though FOC is not included in the 24-hour transit visa TWOV agreement, Xiamen Air has an agreement with the local Immigration Authority that allows 24-hour transit visa for Xiamen Air transit passengers.

Airline Check-In Desk: I will go to the airport check-in desk and ask them.

Thank you!

This is very hard to answer. Formally, Fuzhou airport is among those who nominally do not allow 24 hour visa free transit scheme. However, as it was the case with Urumqi airport in pre-pandemic time, China Southern that was using Urumqi airport heavily, had special relation with local airport and it was allowed for its passengers to have more rights and tolerances than other airlines. It could be easily the same thing with Xiamen airport and Fuzhou airport, but to know this detail, it would be ideal to ask for this detail at airline, preferably at their check-in counter if this option is available to you.

Hi, I have the same question. Next week I have schedule to flight with Xiamen Airline From Jakarta to Tokyo and transit at Fuzhou. How about you? Do you still need apply transit visa? Or you can just apply transit visa at airport? Hope you can help :')

Nana, you should not wait a reply from Alice because those who ask something rarely return back to help fellow travelers. I would say that if you travel your entire flight with Xiamen Airlines, you will be allowed to transit Fuzhou covered by 24 hour visa free transit, but I will tell you again, this is a detail that you should confirm only with Xiamen Airlines.

Also, if you manage to successfully accomplish your journey, please, return here to inform us about this detail. Thank you.

Hi,

Xiamen Airlines local ticketing office confirmed that visa is required and sent me a screenshot of the travel requirement on their system. The check-in desk is not always available since Xiamen Air only has 2 flights per day from CGK. So I have cancelled my Xiamen Air tickets and opted for a different airline instead. There are just too many questions from such a simple transit issue and we just don't want to risk it. The safest way is to apply for a visa at the embassy but it is not cheap and just adds more things to do just for a simple transit. And who knows if they reject the visa.

Thanks.

Hi, have you already got the info regarding transit visa in Fuzhou? I plan to go to Japan with Xiamen Airlines on April and will have transit in Fuzhou for 12 hours.

It is obvious that passengers traveling via Fuzhou require a visa obtained in advance. So, you should obtain a transit visa at Chinese diplomatic representative or just avoid the flight that has Fuzhou as a transit point.
