About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

Do I need to have visa to visit Haikou, Hainan island?

I have US passport. From Vietnam, I will flight into Guangzhou then take connecting flight to Haikou airport in Hainan. Do I need visa to visit?

I understand I do not need visa if I flight directly to Hainan?

You understanding is right and only direct flight can be visa-free. If you need to transfer in Guangzhou, then a visa is must.
