About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Arriving by cruise ship to Shanghai Mar 2024, for 1 day. Will overnight on ship. Do I need a visa?

No, you do not any kind of visa even if you stay in Shanghai for a longer time, but have in mind that the immediate points before and after Shanghai have to be in two different countries or territories. For example, if your itinerary is:

South Korea - Shanghai - Taiwan

Then you do not need any kind of visa because the points before and after Shanghai are located in two different countries/territories.
