Do I need a transit visa - Sri Lankan passport holder

Hi i am travelling to London from Melbourne and have a 7 hours layover in Beijing and a 13 hour layover when coming from London to Melbourne in Beijing. I’ve checked a few sites and the answer is very confusing as I’m not sure if I need one or not.

I was also wondering if my flight is delayed and I pass the 24 hour free visa time - if I’m applicable in the first place - what will happen?

Any advise is highly appreciated.

First, this is not a visa but a 24 / 144-hour visa-free transit.

Second, your two itineraries are both eligible for 24-hour and 144-hour visa free transit, so you don't need to worry about any delay.

Hi Emma,

Thank you for the swift reply, but I am a Sri Lankan citizen and Sri Lanka is excluded from the 24 hour free visa countries. My port is Beijing, just wondering if I would still be fine if I don’t apply for the transit visa for my layover in Beijing? I am not planning to leave the airport at all.

Kindest regards.

Oh, sorry, I forgot that Siri Lanka passport holders are not eligible for the 144-hour visa-free transit and some ports of the 24-hour visa-free transit. However, as I know, there is generally no problem in Beijing but it may be a little hard to get out of the airport.
