About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

A day trip to Shenzen from Hong Kong

Hi, can I as an EU passport holder who is staying in Hong Kong go on a day trip from HK to Shenzen and then come back to HK the same day without applying for visa beforehand? Would I be eligeble for the 'fast visa' at the border, in my situation?

Yes, you can use 5 days visa on arrival. However, knowing that the visa offices on overland border crossings are quite congested and the queues are quite long, I suggest you to take the first morning boat from Hong Kong to Shekou port in Shenzhen and to apply there for this visa because the waiting times there belong to normal/usual conditions. After your stay in Shenzhen, you can return to Hong Kong using every single border crossing or any mean of transport, high speed train included.
