About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Two stopovers in China

Hi, I am Australian looking to travel from Russia back to Aus. The cheapest flights involve two stopovers in China (moscow - wuhan - ghongzhou - sydney). This includes one domestic leg where I am required to collect my luggage and check in again. The time spent in China will be less than 24hrs. Is it possible to do this?

Yes, your itinerary will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. It is always important to remember that 24 hour visa free transit allows multiple stops in mainland China. Also, it is important to calculate your transit time in a correct way or to be precise from your first scheduled landing in mainland China, until your last scheduled departure. In other words even the flight segment of your domestic flight counts and has to be added to your entire transit time. So, if your entire transit time is less than 24 hours, just go ahead and enjoy your journey.

One detail more... When you land in Wuhan, you will cross immigration, but before that you will approach 24/144 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport visa free. This permit comes for free, but I am telling you this detail so that you know what you should do first, before you cross the immigration.
