Exit china on x1 single entry without residence permit

I arrived china on 3rd September on x1 single entry visa, but i have to return home without applying to residence permit. So it is possible to exit china within 40 days without residence permit.

You'd better not. You can exit but you cannot enter again because it is only a single entry. Just apply for a residence permit and then you can go back home worry-free.

Actually I dont want to stay anymore and dont want residence permit, so thats why I am asking that it is possible to exit china on x1 single entry visa without residence permit.
I know in future when I have a plan to come again to china will apply for new visa.
