About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

New Zealander Uk - Shanghai - New Zealand

Hi there! New Zealand passport holder. I’m going from the UK transiting through Shanghai back to New Zealand. Our layover is around 18-20 hours and we will be staying at a hotel near the airport.

Question 1: In order to go from the airport to the hotel do I need a 24 hour exemption and am I eligible?
Question 2: If I am eligible, do you ask for the 24 hour exemption before the first flight to china, or do you apply upon arrival?
Question 3: What are the costs of this visa exemption?
