About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Hotel accomodation at Guangzhou

Hi, are all hotels at Guangzhou eligible for the 144 hours visa free transit ? I was reading a website, can't remember where I read it, that not all the hotels in guangzhou are qualified for this policy. Is this verified news or false rumours? And if this is true, how do I know which hotels are eligible for this policy ? thank you for the time.

It is true that not all the hotels are eligible to receive foreign customers but it has nothing to do with 144-hour visa-free transit. Generally, most large hotels have no such problems but sometimes some small home stay may not have the qualification. Don't worry too much about that, if you still feel too worried, it is suggested to confirm with the hotel before booking.

Thank you for the prompt reply. When checking into the hotel at guangzhou, the hotel staff will inform the local authority on my behalf. Or do I need to do it myself ?

You do not have to bother yourself with any kind of registration. This is the duty of a hotel staff. The only exception to this rule is if you decide to stay at your friends and/or relatives, i.e. in their private or rented homes. In this case, a personal registration is a must. If you use any kind of commercial accommodation, the duty of registration is on that commercial entity.

Joe, one more detail... If you are a Malaysian citizen you have to be aware that >Malaysian citizens are not eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. I assume that you know this detail, but I am telling you this just for a case...
