About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Hong Kong - China - Hong Kong

I am planning to go on a business trip to China for 7 days.

My plan was to take a flight from Amsterdam to Hong Kong.

From Hong Kong I would like to take the train to Guangzhou and visit 2 other cities outside of the province.

Eventually I will fly back from Hong Kong.

Can I get an entry into China when I am entering from Hong Kong? And can I left China to go back to Hong Kong again?

I am currently applying for a Business Visa.

Thanks.

If I have properly understood, you are in the process of obtaining a business visa. If this is the case, then you are absolutely allowed to do exactly as you have planned. There is no a single problem about it. The only thing that you should take care of is if your visa has just a single entry, when you exit from mainland China to Hong Kong, you cannot return back to mainland China. I know, your itinerary is not of that kind, but just to be cautious.

When you enter Hong Kong, you have entered just this "Special administrative region" and not the mainland China. You will not need a visa at that moment. At the time when you take a train at West Kowloon train station, you will exit Hong Kong and enter mainland China and here you will use your visa.

You can freely return to Hong Kong in the way as you wish.

I assume that you have reached some kind of confusion by reading this visa free transit options, but you are free from the rules you are reading about here and probably on some other websites. Since you will travel on a visa, you can travel by taking any mean of transport and any border crossing.

You can compare a travel from Hong Kong to mainland China and back to Hong Kong in the same way as if you are traveling from Netherlands to UK. The only difference is, to cross from Hong Kong to mainland China, you need a visa. That's all.
