About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144-hour visa-free transit Italy - Australia info

I am a dual citizenship holder, Australian - Italian. I am planning a 6 days stop in Beijing to visit a friend and tour the city.
The first flight is from Rome (direct), I will land on June 15 in Beijing (PEK), the countdown should start 00:00 on June 16. My departure is set on June 21 (PEK) > Hong Kong Int airport stop for 5 hours to catch the connecting flight to Melbourne.
I will apply for the 144h free transit with my Australian passport which of course gives me the entry right for my final destination.

Am I clear for the permit?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Yes, you are perfectly fine and your itinerary is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in wider Beijing area. You are correct when you say that the real countdown will start at 00:00 on June 16 and you are free to enjoy your visa free transit stay until June 21 at 24:00.

Please, remember that the portion of your itinerary that is of interest for Chinese authorities is just the segment:

Rome - Beijing - Hong Kong

Before and after that, it does not interest them at all.

Also, you should use just one passport for your entire stay (arrival, registration, departure) in China being it Australian or Italian. It is up to you to choose one, but do not use both.
