About:Visa on Arrival

Travel from HK to Shekou

Hello! I’m travelling from Shangri La hotel in Kowloon and need to catch a ferry to Shekou so that I can get a VOA. As I’m already in HK I can’t use sky pier I think?! So where would I catch the ferry to Shekou? Any help would be really appreciated. I’m a;so a little worried about getting to my hotel from Shekou. Are there any taxis available when I arrive? Thanks Helen

To reach Shekou you will have to reach Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal that is located on Hong Kong island.

The most convenient ferry is the one departing at 09:00 and with arrival in Shekou at about 10:00. Visa office in Shekou opening hours are: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 16:30, so quite convenient in your case.

Another convenient departure is at 11:30 that arrives in Shekou port at 12:30. Since the visa office opens at 13:00, the waiting time is reasonable.

You should have in mind that the price for Shenzhen VOA for UK citizens is 314 CNY.

Shekou port has its metro station on Shenzhen metro line number 2, but in order to take a metro, you would have to take a shuttle bus and I consider that inconvenient if you travel with a luggage. In other word, it is the best to take a taxi at the exit from the terminal building and not to accept the offers of those approaching you within the terminal itself.
