Hi, I am travelling to Hong Kong and would like to visit Shenzhen for a few days and head back to Hong Kong, can I check if its possible to apply a visa on arrival when I am in Shenzhen or do I have to apply visa in advance? Next, if I take the high speed rail from hongkong to futian high speed rail, is that possible for visa on arrival as well?

If you are a Singaporean citizens, you are definitely eligible for 5 days Shenzhen VOA. You will obtain one at one of available border crossings by paying a fee of 168 CNY. You should have in mind that Futian border crossing is not eligible for this option because it is not equipped with visa office. In other words, you cannot take a high speed train from Hong Kong to Shenzhen if you are looking after a VOA.

It is important to mention that in recent time the pressure on visa offices at border crossings is very high and the waiting hours to obtain a visa are long. So, you are advised to take a ferry from Hong Kong directly to Shekou port in Shenzhen where there is a visa office and where you will accomplish the formalities much faster than at any other border crossing. However, please, have in mind the fact about the opening hours of Shekou visa office: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 16:30.

After your stay in Shenzhen, you can return by high speed train from Shenzhen to Hong Kong. In reality, you can use any mean of transport and any border crossing.
