About:Do I Need A Visa for Guangzhou If Traveling from Hong Kong?

American passport holder travels to Zhuhai, Guangdong for a wedding

I am flying in and depart from Hong Kong, taking a ferry from Hong Kong to Jiuzhou Port, then staying at my Nephew's apartment. Am I eligible for 144-hour visa-free transit?

Well, the 144-hour visa-free transit is only eligible for entering by Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, Shenzhen Bao'an Airport and Jieyang Chaoshan Airport. The route should be Country A - China - Country C.

So you may make it this way to be eligible: fly to Guangzhou from HK and then take a high speed train to Zhuhai. After that, go to Macau by ferry, onward to HK and then fly back to the US. Remember you need to have the ferry ticket to Macau in hand when applying for the transit. Or you have to obtain a Chinese visa in advance.
