24 lay over in Beijing from Osaka to UK, Am I still eligible with only a british passport?

Hello,
I will be taking a returning flight from Osaka to the UK and will lay over in Beijing for 24 hours. Would I still be eligible to leave the airport even though I don't have a visa or passport from Japan, solely a British passport?

Don't worry. You are eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit if your scheduled arrivial time to schedule departure time in Beijing is less than 24 hours. If it is longer and I suppose you have no additonal landings in other China cities, then you will be eligible for 144-hour visa-free transit.
