About:Visa on Arrival

U.K. passport holder in Hong Kong

I’m a U.K. passport holder living in Hong Kong and plan to take the high speed train to Shenzhen.
Can I do the VOA? Do I need a PCR test?

You cannot take a high speed train in direction to Shenzhen. Simply, there is no visa office there. You are advised to take Luohu (Lo Wu) border crossing, but be aware that the visa office is open until 16:30. Also, a PCR or antigen test is required and it should not be older than 48 hours at the time of your arrival at the border crossing. Have in mind that the price of Shenzhen VOA for UK citizens is 304 CNY. After your stay in Shenzhen, you can return to Hong Kong by taking any transport option, high speed train included and also every border crossing.

For persons travelling from Hong Kong to the Mainland (except those aged 3 and below), if they have stayed in Taiwan or overseas places on the day of departing Hong Kong for the Mainland or during the seven days before that day, they will still be required to conduct a nucleic acid test within 48 hours prior to departure (or, if the Guide on Epidemic Prevention and Control Measures for Travellers published by the Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Missions in the relevant places otherwise instructs, rapid antigen test may be conducted as an alternative) and obtain a negative result as per the Mainland’s requirements.

So if you’ve only been in HK prior to visiting the mainland, it shouldn’t be needed.

This is great. I would hugely appreciate your feedback after you return back to Hong Kong. It will be very useful for many, really.
