VOA Australian from Macau

Hi. I’m an Australian passport holder. I’m in Macau and have the right to stay here until December 2024 as family attachment on my husbands macau blue card (work visa). I want to go to see a friend in Shenzhen (shekhou) for the day. I believe the VOA is working again. Do you know if this is correct and how long it takes on arrival? Do I need photos? I could also go the night before and come back the next day? Thankyou.

Yes, you are definitely allowed to obtain Shenzhen VOA at appropriate border crossing. In your case, by far the most convenient way would be to take a ferry from Macau to Shekou port in Shenzhen where a visa office is located. The opening hours if visa office are: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 16:30, so plan your arrival there accordingly.

The whole procedure, based on the number of potential applicants can take somewhere around 20 minutes or so. The official will take a photo of you and you will pay 168 CNY for visa issuing.

After your stay, probably the most convenient way to return back to Macau is also a ferry from Shekou port.
