About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Journey query

Hi, I am just wondering if this journey will be okay-

Seoul to Shenzhen to then fly from HK back to the UK- as the only available flights from Shenzhen back to the UK right now pass through Beijing as their stop over, so I think we cannot take that flight?

I am afraid I have not properly understood you... Or maybe I am, we will see...

Do you say that you intend to travel on the following itinerary:

Seoul - Shenzhen - Hong Kong - (later from Hong Kong to UK)

If this is the case and if I have properly understood you, your itinerary is eligible for 144 hours visa free transit in the entire Guangdong province, but you have to fulfill the following criteria:

- Your flight from Seoul to Shenzhen is not allowed to have any additional landing within mainland China
- You have to exit to Hong Kong via one of the eligible exits and here I suggest you to take a direct ferry from Shekou port on Shenzhen to Hong Kong. You are advised to take a look at CKS (Chu Kong Shipping) - Hong Kong site, that operates this route three times daily.
- You have to buy a ticket for the ferry and print it out in order to present it in both Seoul before your departure and also upon arrival in Shenzhen to prove that you are in real transit.
- You will have to take exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket for.

You are correct that an itinerary:

Seoul - Shenzhen - Beijing - UK

You would not be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. However, you would be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit if the time from your scheduled landing in Shenzhen until your scheduled departure from Beijing is less than 24 hours long.
