Yes, your itinerary is fine, but you should take care that your flight from Phnom Penh to Guangzhou does not have any additional landing within mainland China.
Your transfer by bus directly from Guangzhou or Shenzhen has to be really done by a through bus and you have to buy a bus ticket in advance, print the copy of the ticket and have it with you both in Phnom Penh and upon arrival in Guangzhou.
The alternative to bus is a ferry (catamaran) from Shekou port in Shenzhen or from Nansha Passenger Port south from Guangzhou that is reachable by Guangzhou metro. These ferries (catamarans) are run by CKS (Chu Kong Shipping). Please, just keep in mind that the same is valid even for the ferries, you have to book the tiekct in advance, print it out and take that particular ferry you have bought your tickets for. I slightly prefer ferries because, for some reason, they appear to be more serious in the eyes of Guangzhou authorities.
In any case, you will be fine and you will enjoy your time.
