Actually, you can get 5 days Shenzhen visa on arrival by approaching the visa office at Luohu border crossing. Please, be informed that the office opening hours are just until 16:30 (4:30pm).
Also, it is not necessary that you emphasize that you intend to travel for business. Just approache there and say that you would like to explore and enjoy Shenzhen. Also, it is important to mention that this visa is limited to Shenzhen city administrative borders!
If you intend to travel to wider Guangdong province, then your best option is 144 hours visa free transit:
To be eligible for 144 hours visa free transit, you have to fly from Hong Kong (or some other country) to Guangzhou. Also, before you depart for Guangzhou, you will have to buy a ticket that will take you to a third country/region and the most convenient in this case is Macau. So, you will buy a ticket for a ferry via TurboJet website from Shekou port in Shenzhen to Macau. So, this is a valid way how to use 144 hours visa free transit in Guangdong province.
