About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

144 hour Visa Query

Hello
I am getting mixed reviews on flying in and out of China, in order to obtain the 144-hour visa exemption

We are flying with Australian passports with itinerary:

SYD>SIN>CAN (5 days -125 hours stop over)

Train from Guangzhou East railway station (which we are told is the Tianhe railway exit port) to HKG. We have confirmed tickets with our names, time and passport number.

We also have all the hotel bookings printed out.

Is this a valid route? Will they grant us the visa?

Have you heard that Guangzhou are enforcing a fly in fly out policy?

Basically, your route is:

Singapore - Gunagzhou - Hong Kong

This is eligible for 144 hours visa free transit, but there is small doubt about the eligibility of the high speed train from Guangzhou to Hong Kong.

You are correct when you mention Guanzhou East railway station that is the same thing as Tianhe railway station (different ways of calling the same place). Anyway, Guangzhou East (Tianhe) was definitely eligible when, now defunct, through, conventional train was in function and that terminated at Hung Hom station in Hong Kong, while the high speed trains terminate at West Kowloon station.

In my opinion, the Chinese side has liberalized their stance and I assume that they are accepting of taking a high speed train from Guangzhou East to Hong Kong under the condition that you arrive in Guangzhou with already bought ticket (confirmation) where your name and your passport number will be visible.

However, I cannot confirm the viability of this option without some doubts, so if you try this option, here we would be more than grateful if you could provide us a feedback.

Good luck!
