New York to Shanghai

Hi I’m fromNew York can I travel to Shanghai and get my visa at the Chinese airport when I get there. I am a U.s citizen is it possible

No, there is no Shanghai visa on arrival. You need to apply for one in advance.
BTW, if your destination after Shanghai is not US, you can apply for 144-hour visa-free transit when in Shanghai airport, which allows you to stay in Shanghai for up to 144 hours.
