About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

UK to Shanghai, then to HK

My son and I have UK passport and HK ID, can we fly to Shanghai from Heathrow, leave the airport then come back fly to HK 2 days later?

Yes, you can. Your route:

London - Shanghai - Hong Kong

Is eligible for 144 hours visa free transit, but you should have in mind that you should not have any additional landing within mainland China.

Also, your HK ID are not important. Your UK passport is.
