About:Former Residence of Lu Shaoxu

30 day visa extension.

My residence visa expires on the 15th July. I want to stay till the 16th August ideally but realistically for 30 days till the 14th August. Is it possible to extend a visa if married to a Chinese citizen, getting the ending employment letter from my university employer and having a valid reason for stay?

If yes, then when could I apply? I have read contrasting things. I was told that the new visa will begin on the day someone submits their application, but have read it starts from the day you get your new visa? If the former, I'd like to leave it till the 14th July, but must it be 7 days before the original expiration?

Sorry, many questions but a confusing topic.

If your purpose of staying in China change from work to family reunion, you need to renew the visa instead of extending it. If you get married to a Chinese citizen, you can apply for a new Q visa.

Like extension, you need to do it at least 7 days before the current visa expires and the new one begins on the day of issue, not the day of submission.
