What can I do if my company refuses to renew my residency permit?

I am currently working in China and I am under contract until the first week of July. However, my residency will expire only a few days before the contract does. I do not trust my company. It is possible that they reduce the foreign staff at the end of this term. I am concerned that they will refuse to renew my residency or that they will only extend it for a few days so that I can only finish the contract at the school. Is this a possible outcome? Can someone tell what the minimum time frame is that they have to extend my residency? Or what legal options I have if they refuse to renew it while I am still under contract? I am currently in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

If the company will end your contract, then you cannot renew your residency permit. However, as long as your contract is still valid, the company should help you to extend it to the end date of your work contract.

Yes they should. I am asking about what if they don't? What if I am still under contract and they just decide not to? Or, is is possible that they only renew my residency until the last day of the contract instead of 12 months?
