Switching from residence permit (private affairs) to visa Z

Hi,
I live in China. My husband works here. We both applied for residence permit. He has a working company permit, me - private affairs. Now I want to get job here. Where to apply for Visa Z? And how long does it take to get it?

First get a job, then the company you work for will (should) assist in applying for the correct permits etc.
