About:Requirements for Permanent Residence Permit

Impossible requirement

My wife is Chinese and has a residence in China. We have lived mainly in the UK since getting married in China in 2008. We wish to spend more time in China and be based there. I am a UK citizen and would like to get a permanent residence permit (spouse reunion). One of the prerequisites seems to be that I have already lived in China. That's surely not possible and unattainable.

Bill, though you are not eligible for permanent residence of China, you can apply for a Q visa to be able to stay in China with your wife.

I already have a Q2 visa. I am in China just now. Our return flight to UK was cancelled in March and after 3 more cancellations we are still here. Of course I had to get visa extensions.
Are Q and Q2 very different?

Q visa is divided into Q1 and Q2 visas. Q1 visa allows a stay longer than 180 days, while Q2 visa only allows a stay less than 180 days.
