Apply for new X2 in China

I'm currently in China and I'm in the automatic 60-day extension period for my X2 visa, the extension is set to expire Sept. 5th. I want to stay until January to continue my studies. I'm aware that I can apply for an additional 30-day extension, but that would still only get me to October. I'm looking to change language programs (my current program is not good), but the one I'm considering says they can't provide me a JW202 (they are not a university). What should I do in this situation to remain in China? I prefer to not apply to a formal university because I wouldn't get the style of 1-on-1 instruction I prefer.

You can ask the new insitiuation to issue you an admssion notice to see if your can renew your X2 visa. Jw202 form is required for applying X2 visa actually.

Not quite. From what I’ve gathered, University’s seem to be the best bet (I think BLCU May still be offering spots). For now I’m going to be applying for a 60 day “humanitarian visa” in the next few days; not sure if it’s actually a visa or just an extension. Apparently they have been giving these out fairly generously, and that may give me some more time to get a longer term visa.
