If I join a day tour to Xian and leave the tour at the Small Wild Goose Pagoda or the City Wall, can I take the Metro to reach Xian North? How much time does it take.

Yes, you can take a subway from Small Wild Goose Pagoda or City Wall to Xi'an North Railway Station. From Small Wild Goose Pagoda: You can walk to Nan Shao Men Station to take subway line 2 which will take you to Xi'an North Railway Station directly. The walking distance from Small Wild Pagoda scenic spot to Nan Shao Men Station is about 800 meters. You will arrive at Xi'an North Railway Station after 12 stops. It takes about 50 minutes on the way.From City Wall: You can descend the City Wall from Yong Ning Gate, then walk south to Yong Ning Gate Station and get on subway line 2. After 11 stops, you will arrive at Xi'an North Railway Station. It takes around 40 minutes on the subway.
