Does applying for a stay permit to stay 30 days extra make your L visa void?

It's explained in the question. It's the permit fr the PSB to extend your stay in China for an extra 30 days.

Yes, I heard that if your visa will expire after the 2-month automatic extension, you will need to go to the local exit and entry administration to apply for another 30-day stay. This will make your current visa void.
