About:China Visa

visa extension covid

i am here on business visa, my stay ends 5/7 and i hear you get 60 days automatic extension during the virus control period but i dont feel.comfortable to stay without something in writing. when i went to exit and entry they said only way.to get in writing is to apply for extension. do i really need to go through the formal process or just have faith in the 60 day extension

The NIA announcement explicitly stated that the automatic two-month extension will only be recorded in their system and not on the passport itself (otherwise it would not be automatic since folks would line up to have their passports stamped). If you want a physical document then you can elect to pay a fee for a physical extension visa. Keep in mind that any extension visa will void your 10-year visa if you have one. Also the validity of your extension visa is at the discretion of the local NIA.
